Hokies vs Hoos: Habitat Challenge Volunteer

Volunteer Information

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the Hokies versus Hoos Habitat build sponsored by MWV (MeadWestvaco). Please follow the below steps to schedule your desired volunteer day.

Volunteer Registration

  1. Check the Weekly Calendar to ensure there are enough available volunteer spots (15 per day) to accommodate you or your group. The number beside the date is the number of spots available that day.
  2. Download the Volunteer Form and fill it in completely. Be sure to check the build date (or dates) you’d like to volunteer and fill in the primary contact information. Confirmation of your build date will be sent to this individual.
  3. Email the completed Volunteer Form to hokiesvshoos@gmail.com.
  4. Download and complete the Waiver and bring it with you to the build site.
  5. Download the Basic Build Site Guidelines for FAQs.
  6. If you or your group has an emergency and cannot attend your scheduled date please send an email to hokiesvshoos@gmail.com.

Parking & Directions

Parking is limited, please carpool. The location of the build is 4321 Angus Road, Richmond, VA 23234. Please park at My Father’s Ministries located at 3323 Walmsley Blvd., Richmond, VA 23234. Click here for parking directions.

Build Information

  • Please be at the build site by, 8:00am. No volunteers are allowed after 8:45am. Work usually ends around 3:30 pm.
  • Bring your completed waiver to the build site and reference the Hokies versus Hoos build when you sign in.
  • Volunteers must be 16 or older. Those under 18 will need to have the waiver signed by a parent or guardian.
  • Unless your group provides lunch please bring your own. The lunch break is usually not long enough to leave the site and come back. If your group is providing lunch please have it delivered around 11:30 am.
  • Dress comfortably with closed-toe shoes. Boots or tennis shoes are fine. Sunscreen is recommended.
  • In the event of bad weather, contact Habitat’s automated line, 804-358-5899, after 7:30 am for build information.
